The United States is a secure and attractive location for foreign investments and owning property. For residential, investment, or for vacation purposes many advantages exist for the foreign investor in United States real estate.
In June 2015, the National Association of REALTORS® Research Division complied the “2015 Profile of Home Buying Activity of International Clients For the Twelve Month Period Ending March 2015“.
Currently the majority of the reported foreign investment in United States real estate purchases are from Canada, China (PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan), Mexico, India, and the United Kingdom.
The report states that nearly half of international clients preferred to locate in a suburban area, and about a third located in a central city/urban area. Approximately 9 percent of foreign buyers located in a resort area.
Residential property was the preferred type, according to 81 percent of wealth advisor respondents who reported their clients were interested in this investment.
